First Visit?
Meet Dr. Zehra Syed
As a Birmingham, AL native, I grew up in the Oak Mountain community, where I was recruited to Mississippi State University to play soccer for the MSU Bulldogs (Hail State!). There, I pursued Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Business and later attained an MBA before returning to Birmingham to embark on my dental education.
While at UAB School of Dentistry, I discovered the life-changing impact orthodontic treatment could have for patients in all walks of life. I loved the genuine connections and strong doctor-patient relationships that could be fostered throughout the course of treatment.
This profound interest in orthodontic care led me to the Medical University of South Carolina, where I completed a 3-year residency and served as Chief Resident. With a strong education in advanced surgical orthodontics, clear aligner therapy, growth modification treatments, and traditional braces, I completed my certification process to become a Board Certified Orthodontist.
Following my education, I returned home to Birmingham, AL, to live out my dream of being an orthodontist. I can’t wait to welcome you to our Blue Lake Orthodontics Family!

- Dr. Z enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle, including hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, and running with her 1-year-old puppy, Reese.
- She is creative and loves DIY projects, painting, and drawing. In fact, you will see some of her work showcased in Blue Lake Orthodontics!
- Dr. Z loves attending sporting events, traveling, and attending concerts.
- Family and friends are paramount in her life.

Borden
Borden has been a part of the Blue Lake Ortho journey since the beginning! You can expect a warm welcome from Borden when you visit or call us at Blue Lake Orthodontics.
In her free time, Borden enjoys hiking with her dog (Atty!), being active, and spending time with her nieces.
Tiffany
Tiffany is proud to be part of the Blue Lake Orthodontics team, where she loves connecting with patients and helping them feel confident from the moment they walk in. Her goal is to make every visit smooth, comfortable, and full of smiles.
When she’s not in the office, you’ll find Tiffany curled up with a good book, cheering on her favorite football team, or spending quality time with her daughter. Her genuine warmth and upbeat spirit brighten the day for everyone around her.
Ana
Ana loves being part of the Blue Lake Orthodontics family and takes pride in helping every patient feel comfortable and cared for. You can always count on her warm welcome and friendly conversation.
Outside the office, Ana loves hiking, working out, trying new recipes, and spending time with family and friends. She’s always up for an adventure and brings that same positive energy to her work every day.
Lori
You’ll find Lori chairside as one of our wonderful clinical assistants! With 32 years of orthodontic experience, she brings warmth, skill, and positivity to every patient.
Outside the office, Lori loves spending time with her family and dog, attending church, and enjoying the outdoors—her caring spirit shines in all she does.
Nooni
As an integral part of the Blue Lake Ortho family, Nooni is experienced in various roles in the office. You can expect to see her clinically assisting Dr. Z and taking orthodontic records throughout your treatment.
Nooni enjoys spending time with family, trying new restaurants around Birmingham, and traveling!
Reese
As Blue Lake Ortho’s designated mascot, Reese is a happy golden retriever you may see in the office occasionally. Reese enjoys long walks (escaping), landscaping (digging holes), and laundry (stealing socks)! But above all, Reese loves to make those around her smile.
